Description
Letter from David b. Moshe Bonfat (בונפט) ha-Sefaradi to Avraham ha-Sefaradi. In Hebrew. Dating: probably no earlier than 15th century. The sender reports that he received the addressee's and Yosef's letters. He heard that they arrived safely in Jerusalem and after one month traveled onward to Damascus. Mentions R. Aharon, Egypt, and the sender's astonishment about something. Cites Berakhot 3b: “A handful cannot satisfy a lion, nor can a pit be filled up with its own clods.” The sender asks for a letter with advice about what he should do, since he doesn't want to stay in Egypt and he wants to be close to the addressee. He intends to travel by sea "or to another place in Syria" (סורייא). Might mention someone referred to as "Amigo" (אמיגו). (Information in part from CUDL.)
