- The validity of this document is confirmed before me. It was written by
- Ḥasan ibn ʾIbrāhīm ibn Rizq in his (own) handwriting.
- In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
- This is what Bandalūs ibn Buṭrus the tailor has bought from Baqām ibn Kayl ibn Qūrīl. They are both [numbered] among the inhabitants of the village known as that Ṭuṭūn in the district of
- Fayyūm. He bought from him the living room known as the living room of ʾAbū Thaydar to its limit and its boundaries, with its upper part and lower part, and its timber [and its doors] and its stones and it is known and witnessed by
- Kayl ibn Qūrīl. It is very well-known so there is no need to describe its boundaries. [The sale also includes] the passageway that [starts] from the door of this large house and goes up to this living room. And the storehouse that is
- under this living room. And what is enclosed by its four boundaries and every right that is within and out of it as well as its doors, its timbers, and its stones. The door of the storehouse opens to the [courtyard] of the large house
- known as the house of Kayl ibn Qūrīl. He bought all of this living room and its passageway and its storehouse and the passageway belonging to the storehouse for (a sum of) money which amounts in Muʿizzī gold coins of full weight
- to nine dīnārs, half of which is four and a half dīnārs in gold minted coins of good alloy. Baqām ibn Kayl ibn Qūrīl received from Bandalūs
- ibn Buṭrus, the tailor, this price completely and in full and released him from this a release of full receipt and delivered to him the abovementioned property,
- described in this document. He (i.e., Bandalus) owned it and acquired it and it passed into his possession and into his holding as his property. If he wishes he may sell, if he wishes he may give it away as gift, and if he wishes he may endow it.
- [This is] a valid sale without any condition, any option [to annul it], any restriction or reserve. Should there be any claim made against Bandalūs ibn Buṭrus in this sale
- by way of claims by a third party, or attachments, or litigation, or if someone should suddenly appear with a debt, or should make a claim on the basis on an inheritance, its clearing and its execution (recuperation) is obligatory upon Baqām ibn Kayl from his own
- money whatever it may be and whatever it may amount to. This happened after everything that is in this document was read to them letter by letter and they acknowledged
- understanding and cognition of it while being in sound mind and body, legally capable of conducting their affairs, acting voluntarily, not forced or coerced. And this document was written
- in the month of Ṣafar of the year four hundred and thirty.
