Description
Business letter in Hebrew mentioning maritime shipping with Ragusa (Dubrovnik). 16th-17th-century based on the paleography. Only the left border of the letter is preserved but many lines are legible. The opening lines mention "ספינה רגוסאה" (Ragusan ship) and 1,000 peraḥīm–likely Venetian ducats or a similar gold coin. Line 11 probably references a ship captain "הקאפיטאן" which may have a military connotation given that the next line mentions "the war" (המלחמה). A small portion of the address is visible on the verso: _יד השר ונעל. MCD.
