Description
Letter written in Fustat on 6 Ṭevet (no year) from a son to his mother (l. 17, yā wālidatī). Very emotional. Mentions Alexandria and flax, but also that the son had been in Fustat expecting his mothers' letters but not receiving them, and was so worried that he could neither eat nor drink. Then their aṣḥāb arrived and delivered his mother's letters, he read them and was a bit relieved. The mother mentioned flax, which made the writer happy, but also the difficult situation she was in, including pain and fasting. Reused by the writer's father for a letter in Arabic script presumably sent back to him in Fustat (see separate entry).
