Description

Order of payment issued by the state monopoly administration for silk production/weaving. Location: Alexandria. Dated: 10 Jumada II 1237 AH (1822 CE). ʿAlī al-Kulī receives payment of 33 gurūsh and 13 pāra (medin) for weaving silk– his name also appears in the Judaeo-Arabic filing note on the verso. The official rendering payment is Mūsā Naʿīm al-Yahūdī under the authority of the state overseer (nāẓir) ʿUmr Agha, who signed and sealed the document. This document was intended as the ṣarrāf's (Mūsa's) copy. MCD.
