State document: T-S Ar.39.285

State document T-S Ar.39.285

Description

Original use: State accounts. In Arabic script. Several discrete entries mentioning different Fatimid army leaders (qāʾids). The first is "Turkān Shāh b. al-Amīr Asad al-Dawla Baladkosh", son on the rebellious Turkish army general Baladkosh. The last line of the top entry mentions "istiqbāl tārikh al-tawqīʿ al-madkhūr." Also probably mentions the month of Dhū l-Ḥijja. This document is dated before 466 H/1074 because, according to al-Maqrīzī, Turkān Shāh fled towards Bilād al-Shām after his father Baladkosh was assassinated for inciting the civil war together with Nāṣir al-Dawla (al-Maqrīzī, al-Muqaffā al-Kabīr, II, 340). There are two more names mentioned in the document following the heading "al-qudamā", one of them is probably named Nūr Sinān. Needs further examination.
