Description

Ketubba on vellum, badly damaged. Location: Cairo ([...] ha-semukhah le-Fustat Miṣrayim in opening lines), and פה מצרים in the penultimate line. Dating: 13 Av 55[..] AM. The signature from Yeḥezqel Ḥefeṣ, a prolific early modern scribe, supports a dating estimate of 1770–1825 (his witnessed/scribed documents are c. 1776–1819). The bride's name is only legible as Buena, but her legal status as a "widow" is still visible. The groom's name is Avraham b. [...] Roṣano. The total ketubba valuation is 150 reales abū ṭāqa.
