Description

Letter from Eliyyahu the Judge. He is prepared to give a refresher course in the reading of the Torah to Abū l-ʿAlā ha-Kohen and his father the Segan (ha-Kohanim) and is prepared to come to his house if he is ashamed to attend classes at Eliyyahu's place. To the most illustrious elder, the illustrious Kohen Abu ʾl-ʿAlāʾ, m(ay his) R(ock) k(eep him). If you wish to revive the knowledge of the sections of the Bible which you have studied — your servant is at your disposal. And also at that of your father, the Dean of the Kohens, (may his) R(ock) k(eep him). If coming to me causes you embarrassment and shame, I am prepared to come to your noble home....
