Description
Letter from a certain Hilāl. He reports that as requested he has met up as requested with his in-law Abū l-Fakhr regarding Ibn Budayr and a debt. He then states "because we did not trust the Christian (i.e., Ibn Budayr?) in what he said." As for the house, the sender is "looking for them for a suitable place." The children are doing well. The sender's father sends his regards as does "the little one" (al-ṣaghīra) Zayn al-Dār (it seems that Goitein deduced from this that the sender is married to Zayn al-Dār and that he is writing to his father-in-law). In a postscript he asks for the prices of Indian myrobalan (halīlaj) and amlaj. (Information in part from Goitein's index cards.) VMR
