Description

Tax receipt for Bū l-Makārim b. Bū Ishaq al-Mutaṭabbib, possibly for the purchase of a house in Fustat. Landscape format. Contains three registration marks at the top. Dated: Rajab 635 AH = February/March 1238 CE (a previous description gave the date as 405 AH, but the payer is known from other mid-13th-century documents). On verso there are jottings of sums of nuqra and wariq dirhams in Judaeo-Arabic, Arabic script, and Greek/Coptic numerals.
