Letter from Shelomo b. Eliyyahu to his brother, Abu Zikri in Alexandria. Reporting that the 'old man' (likely their father Eliyyahu) arrived safely. Shelomo reports that the cheese has been a fiasco. The customs payments came out to nearly 6.5 dinars. Rabbenu Ḥananʾel helped out somehow. The sellers demanded an auction (ḥalqa) which 20 Jews attended. The 'old woman' (likely their mother Sitt Rayḥān) is well. Their sister and R. Simḥa are also well.Their cousin Yosef the son of their paternal uncle Abū l-Faraj sends his greetings. Their father Eliyyahu is extremely perturbed due to Abū Zikrī's letter's regarding "what wicked men have done" (מא עמלו האנשים החטאים ימח שמם ויפח זכרם מתחת שמי השמים). Their maternal aunt and her son are well. Greetings to his cousin (bint ʿamm) and her mother (imraʾat ʿammī) and to Yosef and to Nissim and to Barakāt and to Mufaḍḍal and to another cousin (bint khāla) and another cousin (bint ʿamma) and her children. Their maternal aunt in Fustat says to Abū Zikrī to send her a note informing her the news of her daughter. Greetings to their paternal uncle Abū l-Faraj Ibn al-Tawwazī and to Rabbenu Yosef and his son and to Abū l-Maʿānī b. Hārūn and his brother Hārūn. Abū l-Ḥasan the brother of Maʿānī is well.
