Description

Letter from Shelomo b. Elʿazar, in the Fayyūm, to a certain Shelomo. In Judaeo-Arabic, beautifully written. Dating: likely 13th or 14th century. He conveys the gratitude of the congregation for a parchment Torah scroll that was sent to them and arrived two days before Rosh ha-Shana. He asks for a scroll of the readings from the Prophets for Yom Kippur. (Information in part from Goitein's index card.)
