Description

Ketubba issued in Qalyub, well-preserved with an ornate border. Dated 8 Kislev 5217 AM, but this must be a scribal error because the paleography and level of preservation make it impossible for this ketubba to have been issued in 1456 CE. It is more likely that the scribe's intended year was 5517 or 5617 AM (18th- or 19th-century). The groom was Avraham ha-Levi and the bride Reyna[?] bt. Nissim Taḥves[?] (תתחוויס). The signature from Avraham Levi may have the French "Monsieur" (מנסור) or, alternatively, the Arabic name "Mansūr" was not included in the body of the ketubba. MCD.
