Description

Account book in Judaeo-Arabic. Dated in multiple locations to the early 18th century, for example שנת הנה ישעך בא (=463=1703). There may also be dates as early as the 1640s but this portion of the UPenn-CAJS catalogue metadata is unclear. The paleography is listed as Yemenite cursive. The scribe notes in at least one of the headings (4v): "עשיתי חשבון עם כה׳׳ר רחמים" before providing the relevant dates. The nature of the accounts becomes clearer on 4r in the heading "מן ר׳׳ח תמוז מכר כה׳׳ר רחמים לר׳ אברהם ראובן"– which indicates a sale between two individuals.
