Description / Bio

Enslaved woman mentioned in a bill of sale in which she was sold by Sitt al-Ḥusn bt. Avraham, the wife of Yakhin, to the buyer Sitt al-Fakhr bt. Yaʿaqov ha-Kohen, the wife of Abū l-Futūḥ. ʿUshshāq was pregnant when the sale took place. (Information from PGP and Craig Perry, Slavery and the Jews of Medieval Egypt, Appendix 1, no. 113)
