Description / Bio

Enslaved six-year-old child who was purchased in the western Indian Ocean region and trafficked to Cairo. The twelfth-century letter referencing her was penned by an India trader who had recently traveled through Kullam and he mentions that the 6-year-old was purchased for Sitt al-Ḥusn (in Cairo).
