Description / Bio

Enslaved boy from al-Hind mentioned in two copies of the same letter sent by Mahruz to Sulayman b. Abu Zikri Kohen, ca. 1137-1147 CE. In T-S 16.345 (PGPID 5447) the reference appears in line 12. See also T-S AS 149.96 (PGPID 17592), recto, right margin, where Maḥrūz refers to him as ʿabd hindī ṣaghīr. In this letter, Maḥrūz explains that he will cover the cost of provisions for this enslaved person until ʿAydhāb but Abū Zikrī must pay for provisions from that point until his arrival in Egypt.
