Sulaymān
Description / Bio
Son of a Hindī enslaved woman and member of the Jewish community, Sulaymān is mentioned in a medieval-era state petition consisting of compaints about his behavior on Shabbat and in the Perfumer's Market of Fustat. Sulaymān's legal status is not explicitly mentioned in the petition but it is possible he was born into slavery and later manumitted.
