Nissīm b. Peraḥyā Ben Yijū

Description / Bio

A son of Sitt al-Dār bt. Avraham Ben Yijū and the judge Peraḥyā b. Yosef Ben Yijū. He married an in-law of Maimonides, a daughter of Shemuʾel Ibn al-Amshāṭī. The Ibn al-Amshāṭī family been the Ibn Yijū family's patrons for several successive generations. Nissīm arranged cousin marriages for both of his known children: his daughter to his brother Moshe's son Yosef, and his son Peraḥyā to his wife's brother's daughter.
