Description / Bio

Enslaved woman mentioned in a deed of sale in which she was sold by an agent (wakīl) of Yeshuʿa b. Hillel Ibn Zikr to Hillel b. Barakāt in March 1226 CE. Ḍiyāʾ is listed in the document as having been born into slavery (muwallada). (Information from PGP and Craig Perry, Slavery and the Jews of Medieval Egypt, Appendix 1, no. 23)
