الوصف

Letter addressed to Sitt Ghazāl, in Fustat. In Arabic script. The sender reports on his or her bad fortune since parting from the addressee(s) ("we went out naked and hungry. . . and I had no resort. . . and I saw no alternative to traveling"). Also reports that Abū ʿImrān had converted to Islam and divorced his wife and provided no support for her or their daughter. This is probably the same episode described in T-S Ar.40.56 (PGPID 5468) (India Book II, 64), which dates to ca. 1167 CE. Near the end of this letter, the sender reports that “as for the news of Makārim your son, I heard that he entered al-Jāwa, may God reunite you...." (Information in part from Goitein's note card.)
