الوصف

Part of a pre-nuptial agreement. Written by ʿImmanuel b. Yeḥiʾel. Dated 13th Elul 1[...], in Fusṭāṭ. Issued under the authority of David I Maimonides (1237–1300). Bride: [...] bt. Barak[āt] b. Shela ha-Levi al-Sukkarī (the sugar-maker) (bride). Groom: [...] b. Peraḥya. The bride is entitled to keep her earnings, although the bridegroom has to provide her clothing. On the other hand, her mother-in-law will live with her in the same house in Cairo. The document contained a large dowry list and the approval of the groom for receiving it.
