Bill of release. Dated: Sunday, 12 Adar II 4826 = 12 March 1066 CE. Goitein describes it as the end of an enormous deed containing a settlement between Abū l-Faḍl Shela b. Yefet b. Shelomo Ibn al-Sukkarī (aka Sahl b. Ḥasan b. Salāma) and his paternal uncle Abū Saʿd Ḥalfon b. Shelomo (aka Khalaf b. Salāma). There is a loan (שטר יזפתא) of 1000 dinars, apparently provided by the nephew. All claims resulting from the uncle's work in the royal mint will be equally shared. Also mentions the uncle's wife, Hinda. Signed by Yehuda b. Yosef ha-Kohen (i.e. the Rav, see T-S 12.397 + T-S G1.5a + T-S AS 155.329 (PGPID 3152)), Yehuda b. Menashshe, and Ḥayyim b. ʿAmmār, and approved by Mevorakh b. Saʿadya, Yosef b. Elʿazar Ibn ha-Shofet, and Ruwayya (רויה) b. Shemuel. (Information in part from CUDL and Goitein's index card.) T-S NS J269 (PGPID 4299) concerns the same affair. Shela b. Yefet Ibn al-Sukkarī is known from several other documents, including ENA 4020.16 (PGPID 2404) and BL OR 5554A.49 (PGPID 19213).
