الوصف

Fragment from a large letter of introduction from the people of Granada (גרנטה) ‘the city of our master Shemuel ha-Nagid and his son Yehosef’, signed by [Shem]uel b. Yisḥaq, Yiṣḥaq b. Yosef, and Shemuel b. Yehuda. The bearer was forced to leave his country because his father who had been a government official had fallen into disgrace. The letter is undated, but the difficulties in Spain may be from the period following the assassination of Yosef b. Naghrela in 1066 CE. Biblical quotes are marked with supralinear dots (Isaiah 27:13; 1 Samuel 12:22). (Information from CUDL and Goitein's index card.)
