Verso: Engagement agreement in Hebrew. Date: 8 Kislev 5459 AM (November 1698 CE). The recto contains accounts in Judaeo-Arabic from the first of Tūt of the Ḥijrī year 1126 AH, (1715 CE) and thus represents the later instance of reuse. The prospective groom is Avraham b. Mordekhay Taqonī (possibly = Italianate surname Taccone) and prospective bride: Simḥa[?] bt. Eleʿazar ha-Levi, who is listed with the legal status bogeret. The wedding date is setting for the following month of Tevet. The total anticipated valuation in the ketubba is 17,000 m[edin]. One of the witnesses is listed as Shelomo Zaraḥīya (who was likely not the scribe given that he is listed as ע׳׳ב=עד 2=second witness). This engagement document was perhaps a draft of the final version issued to the prospective bride/groom and/or a draft of what was entered into a court register. MCD.
