Ayyubid state accounts related to military spending of two Syrian lords of the Ayyubid sultan al-Kāmil (d. 1238) or his successor, the sultan al-ʿĀdil Sayf ad-Dīn Abū Bakr (d. 1240). The document lists various types of matériel such as chain mail, horses, saddles and leather armor, as well as their prices. The section on recto is headed al-mawl (or: amwal?) li-l-Malik al-Muẓaffar, ṣāḥib Ḥamā (property of al-Malik al-Muẓaffar, ruler of Hama; he ruled 1227/28–44). The section underneath is headed amwal al-Malik al-Mujāhid, ṣāḥib Ḥomṣ (property of al-Malik al-Mujāhid, ruler of Ḥomṣ; he ruled 1186–1240). Therefore this document dates to 1227–40. An excellent source for prices of armor in the Ayyubid period.
