ثيقة شرعيّة: Moss. VII,61
ثيقة شرعيّة Moss. VII,61الوصف
Mysterious document with multiple text blocks, all quite faded. It may begin on verso and continue onto recto. At the top of verso there is Hebrew piyyuṭ. This is followed by a legal record in Hebrew. Seems to be dated [4]808 AH = 1047/48 CE. An acknowledgment made by ʿEli b. Yiṣḥaq for Mevorakh ("Kelil ha-Yofi") b. Seʿadʾel. There is an interlinear insertion ~5 lines from the bottom giving the name of the city (במדינת ב. . .), but it is very difficult to read. On recto, the hand and ink appear to change around line 10. This may be the original use of the document, because it is formatted like a letter. It may be a legal query addressed to "[...] the son of Shelomo Rosh Yeshivat Gaʾon Yaʿaqov." This would normally be Maṣliaḥ Gaʾon, in which case the dating on the other side should be revisited. The query may have to do with the marriages of kohanim. Needs further examination.
