الوصف

Recto (original use): Legal document written on parchment, in the hand of Ḥalfon b. Menashshe ha-Levi (active 1100–38). The beginnings of 10 lines are preserved. Involves a woman. Few to no details of the situation are preserved. There are two sets of lines of holes, one with the thread still in it (the document seems to have been folded and secured shut in this way). In the margin there is an undeciphered note in Arabic script. Verso: A cryptic note in Arabic script referring to "al-mamlūk al-ʿĀḍidī al-ʿĀdilī and the ghulām of someone called "al-muntaṣib(?) al-Sijilmāsī." The epithet al-ʿĀḍidī presumably refers to someone in the service of the caliph al-ʿĀḍid (r. 1160–71). The epithet al-ʿĀdilī is less clear; the vizier Ibn al-Sallār was known as al-ʿĀdil, however he died in 1154.
