Cheat sheet:

  • If you're looking for a word with one missing letter, use a period. Two missing letters, use two periods or {2}. Increase the number in the curly brackets to increase the number of characters, or insert a range with a comma in between, ex. {0,5}.
  • If you don't know how many characters are missing, use .*.
  • If you know which characters you want, use square brackets to find multiple spellings, ex. [יו] for yud or vav.

  36. 1436LetterMoss. VII,182

Yedutun refers to several matters known from their other correspondence: he says that ibn al-Taffal continues to slander Moshe to Abu Zikri (the Gaon Sar Shalom ha-Levi), but Abu Zikri does not believe him (cf. T-S 13J20.18 and T-S 8J10.16). The daughter of Berakhot is suffering from a “mental illness,” with spells of relief from hour to hour; he [presumably Berakhot] consulted the brothers’ paternal uncle Imran about this.

Fragment from a book of legal formulae containing a few types of deeds, among them a bill of release of a slave (גט שחרור). On the verso of T-S J3.16, the date preserves only the number 88, while Margoliouth, who first edited the text, may have seen more ink, since he read ארבעת אלפים וחמש מאות ושמונים ושמונה שנה לבריית עולם (4588 AM), which is 828 CE. On T-S NS 211.1, a full date is preserved. See Margoliouth, הלכות ארץ ישראל מן הגניזה, pp. 1, 3, 9–10, 14, 18–19, 27–31, and Yeḥezqel David, הגט ונוסחאותיו על פי תעודות מהגניזה ומקורות אחרים, pp. 172–75.
