  2. توجه اطال الله بقا الاكشيل وصاحب الخيل وزير الملك
  3. وادام تاييده وسعادته وسلامته ونعمته متحملها
  4. القائد حسن بن القائد شجاع الدولة اسحق متولي الـباب
  5. ومنزلته عندي منزلة محفوظة ومكانته مشهورة
  6. كتب الله سلامته واحسن صحابته والـذي [ ... ]
  7. اليك حسن السمعة وجميل الاحدوثة وهي التي
  8. يقضي بكثرة من يفد عليه ويسير اليه والاكشيل غير
  9. محتاج الى ما كنت وصيته في بابه ولا موكد عليه في اكرامه
  10. واعزازه وتنزيله منزلة امتاله من عبيدي
  11. الخصيصين في وكلانه وحفظه ومراعاته والاشتمال
  12. عليه الى حين انتضار شاكر الاكشيل ومهما فعله
  13. معه من جميل او خير فانا المعتد له به والشاكر عليه
  14. فكتاب الاكشيل ولا تخليني منه بقضا حوائجه وما يتجدد 
  15. من الاخبار فيه ان شا الله عز وجل
  16. الحمد لله وحده وصلواته على سيدنا محمد نبيه واله وسلامه
  17. حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل

Recto

  1. In the name of God, the Merciful and Compassionate.
  2. May God prolong the life of the Ikshīl, the Master of the Horses, the vizier of the king,
  3. and cause his support, happiness, safety and wellbeing to endure. The bearer of this letter, who has travelled (to you),
  4. is the leader Ḥasan, the son of the leader Shujāʿ al-Dawla (‘the Courage of the State’) ʾIsḥāq, the administrator of the gate.
  5. His status with me is firmly established and his rank is well-known,
  6. may God decree his safety and cause him to have good company. The one who [ …..]
  7. to you, has a good reputation and is well spoken of, and these are qualities that
  8. are abundantly exhibited by those who come to him (i.e., you, the Ikshīl) and are sent to him. The Ikshīl does not
  9. need my recommendation with regard to him or my reassurances to show him respect
  10. and treat him well, and grant him the status of those of my personal slaves that are similar to him
  11. with regard to care, guardianship, supervision and protection
  12. until the time of waiting for the one who is grateful to the Ikshīl. Whatever
  13. kindness and good he (the Ikshīl) does in his (the bearer of the letter’s) regard, I shall appreciate and be thankful for.
  14. So, may the Ikshīl (send) a letter and do not omit to ask me in it to carry out his needs and to let me know in it
  15. 15. the latest news, if God, the Mighty and Glorious, wills it.
  16. 16. Praise be to God alone and His blessings on our lord, Muḥammad, His prophet, and his family, and His peace.
  17. Our sufficiency is God. What a fine keeper is He!
