Description

Letter in Arabic script. Addressed to [...] al-Ḥakīm, the physician of the amīr Jamāl al-Dīn Aḥmad. Dating: Likely ca. 13th century. The writer seems to be rebuking the addressee "because of your habit of listening to 'bāṭil' (bad counsel), there is not a single person who doesn't laugh on us" and twice swears "wa-ḥaqq al-Tawrā" ("by the Torah!"). There are few commodities with prices in dirhams listed on both recto and verso like rice. There are a few phrases in Hebrew (in Hebrew script) on verso.
