Description

Fragment of a commercial letter in Judaeo-Arabic. Dating: probably 16th century or later based on the reference to the currency buqsha (used in Yemen starting in the Ottoman period). Mentions people including Muḥammad b. Aḥmad, Bā Mahdī, and al-shaykh Yabā(?). The sender is in a place he calls "al-ʿayn" (or perhaps "al-ʿayn al-[...]"). He also mentions the currency "buqsha" and רשן dirhams. Verso twice mentions the word "turkiyya." Needs further examination. ASE/MCD
