Description

Letter fragment sent to Fustat. In Judaeo-Arabic with the address in Arabic script. Dating: Liikely 11th century. Little of the content remains. "... the response... may he please inform me the [n]ews of the effeminate young man (al-ghulām al-mukhannath) who was with Abū ʿAlī Ḥasan Ibn al-Turkash (or Ibn al-Tarkash) [and if] he arrived in health..." (יתפצל ויערפני [כ]בר אלגלאם אלמכנת אלדי כא[ֿן] מע אבו עלי חסן בן אלתרכש וא[ן כ]אן קד וצל פי עאפיה). In the upper margin mentions 'the island' (al-jazīra). Underneath the address on verso is the name (one of the bearers?) Muḥammad b. Hibatallāh b. al-Ḥusayn. ASE
