Description

Fragment of a letter in Hebrew. Dating: 11th or 12th century. Describing hearing bad news on the 3rd of Ṭevet which caused the sender to strike 'hand against hand' and throw down his turban. These are expressions of grief, perhaps for a public figure. (Information from CUDL and Goitein's index card.) On recto there is unidentified Hebrew text in a rudimentary hand, different from the letter. Mentions בן סורר ומורה.
