Description

Scribal exercises and signature practice. The paleography supports a dating estimate of 16th-century or later. On the recto the signature Yiṣḥaq b. Eliyahu Israel is couple with another name, Yom Tov b. David and on the verso the scribe alternated between the names Yosef b. Rafaʾel ʿUziʾel and Rafaʾel b. Yosef ʿUziʾel. This degree of variation points to the likelihood that these signatures are calligraphy practice rather than the scribe's own autograph. MCD.
