  • If you're looking for a word with one missing letter, use a period. Two missing letters, use two periods or {2}. Increase the number in the curly brackets to increase the number of characters, or insert a range with a comma in between, ex. {0,5}.
  • If you don't know how many characters are missing, use .*.
  • If you know which characters you want, use square brackets to find multiple spellings, ex. [יו] for yud or vav.

The dating is established by comparison with TS AS 183.83 (PGPID 37888), likely from the same original ledger of accounts. The document gives many rich details about sugar production from various sugar refineries (maṭbakh, pl. maṭābīkh) from places such as Ashmūn and Minyat al-Qāʾid (here spelled with the interim spelling مية, in between earlier منية and modern ميت). Merits further examination. ASE

Letter fragment (lower part) from a muqaddam named Moshe (b. A sick, old man is mentioned in the margin, but the surrounding text is damaged, so it is unclear if this is an aspersion directed at the rival or a complaint about his own condition.

Letter from Moshe b. ʿOvadya, in Aleppo, to a Nagid, in Cairo, who receives 20 lines of eloquent Hebrew praises but does not appear to be named (he may be identifiable on the basis of the titles, or if the writer or other people mentioned in the letter prove to be dateable). Possibly someone named al-ʿAjami and his son were in Damascus for 10 days, and the "deputy of al-Sham" confiscated all their property, amounting to 1000 dinars.
